PYREX® round bottom boiling flasks have short ring necks and take a No. 5 rubber stopper. These ring neck boiling flasks are precisely tooled for uniform stopper fit. These flasks are used in applications requiring rigid stoppering and as wash bottles in routine lab washing. They are manufactured from No. 7740 borosilicate glass. Wall thicknesses are carefully controlled to provide the proper balance between thermal expansion and mechanical strength for greater shock resistance. Their excellent chemical durability results in contamination-free results and long life under the toughest lab conditions. The normal working temperature for PYREX® boiling flasks is 230°C.

These watch glasses possess high chemical durability, thus preventing contamination of solutions. They are molded to the same radius of curvature for convenient stacking. The heavy wall and uniform fire-polished edge provide mechanical strength. The outside diameter cannot be controlled within close limits and a slight degree of out-of-round can be expected to occur.

Bovine calf serum is a cost-effective alternative to Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). It is often used with robust cell lines when large quantities of serum are needed such as in the manufacturing of biological drugs and vaccines. Bovine calf serum is derived from calves that are generally less than 22 weeks old. It has very high levels of transferrin, which allows for iron fortification to levels of more than three times greater than normal FBS. Iron is essential for cell respiration and metabolism and for some cell lines, makes up for the lower levels of growth factors and other metabolites found in calf serum when compared to FBS.

Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is a time tested, universal supplement used in cell culture. It provides many compounds that have been shown to satisfy specific metabolic requirements for the culture of cells, including hormones, growth factors, cell attachment factors, pH buffer, protease inhibitors, vitamins, minerals, lipids, and a variety of undefined components. Serum also protects against toxic effects associated with pH change, the presence of heavy metal ions, endotoxin, and proteolytic activity.

Sera Processing Using industry leading techniques, blood is aseptically collected at abattoirs, centrifuged to isolate the serum and immediately frozen for testing and further processing. The raw sera is then true pooled and is 0.2 micron sterile filtered with a Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) of 10-3. Every lot then must pass USP <71> sterility testing. Additional testing includes endotoxin, hemoglobin, pH, osmolality, total protein and a biochemical profile that contains various metals, proteins, hormones and other metabolites.

Rabbit serum is a blood component that has had the red blood cells and clotting factors removed. It is primarily used in immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, ELISA assays, or other antibody-based applications as a blocking agent, or a diluent.

Trypsin is used to enzymatically release adherent cells from tissue culture plates for passaging.  Divalent cations such as calcium and magnesium, which are often present in the cell culture environment, inhibit this action.  EDTA sequesters these ions and thus enhances the efficacy of trypsin.

Complete Certificate of Analysis available for each production lot, along with full formulation information Manufactured in a facility that complies with ISO 13485 certified quality system. This product is produced under high quality industry standards.
